The Library dress

I’ve finally managed to convince E that she should have at least one new dress in her wardrobe. In a bid to ensure that the dress wouldn’t just languish in the wardrobe, I involved her heavily in choosing the fabric and pattern.

This is what we came up with.

The fabric is a poplin from Spotlight, bought on sale. These are mostly her favorite colors: all blues and purples. I showed her several pictures of the Oliver and S Library dress. After looking at the different versions, she decided that she liked the short sleeves and the front crossover without the collar.

The purple band is a chambray from the stash, and I had some pink bias tape left over from her Mulberry tunic to insert some flat piping.

The dress closes with plastic faux mother-of-pearl buttons down the back. E was the least keen about this feature. She doesn’t like the feel of buttons behind and under her when she’s sitting down! That’s how fussy she is. I decided to keep them and am now hoping for the best!

great dress! My girls feel the same way about buttons so I tend to replace them with zipps. Hope she wears this because it’s very cute 🙂
