Oh, just some Elsa dresses…

Frozen-mania hit our home late last year after I brought the kids to watch the movie. But it was only a couple of weeks ago that it occurred to my girls to ask me for an Elsa dress. I hemmed and hawed a little, but couldn’t think of a reason to say no. So I made a trip down to Spotlight to pick up some materials and this is what I came up with.

Now, these aren’t exact recreations of the original dress. I wanted to create a knit version mainly because of the comfort level. (The girls have been rejecting non-knits lately!) Kitschy Coo’s Skater dress to the rescue! All I did was cut up the bodice to create some color blocking and add two gathered tulle layers at the back for L’s dress. Both skirts were lengthened to hit the floor. The top and sleeves are white cotton jersey. L has some icy blue stretch velvet for the rest of the dress, while E has a blue panné velvet that has a swirly starburst design printed on it. I left the sleeves and hem unfinished because I liked how the edges curled up, especially at the sleeves.

They practiced sitting with decorum.

When she thought I wasn’t looking, I caught L trying to freeze her brother. So funny.
